The glory of gardening: hands in the dirt, head in the sun, heart with nature. To nurture a garden is to feed not just the body, but the soul. ~ Alfred Austin

The Garden

Where would we be without self sown cherry tomatoes?
It's just as well these ones came up as the large tomato
bushes have toms on them but they just won't ripen!

Really looking forward to eating the seven yes seven!
watermelons going crazy in the garden.

One single solitary little lemon

Self sown zucchini smothering a tiny little loquat tree
I planted not long back. Think there must be a
gazillion zucchini seeds in the compost because they
are coming up everywhere.

Very exciting, both apple trees are loaded.

First we had our nectarines, then the apricots then the peaches
and now we are just starting to eat the grapes.
Feels so good to be able to go out into the garden
and gather your own food.

Today's harvest, only small but I would rather be getting a little each
day from the garden than nothing at all.
That corn tasted so good!

With all this very hot weather it makes for some pretty skies.

I can't believe we are already eight days into the new year, last year just seemed to fly by in a blink and I imagine this year will too. Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and New Year, ours was very quiet and I actually really enjoyed it.
Looking forward to what 2014 brings, lots of things in the planning stages at the moment. Continuing on along the path of simple living and healthy living is tops of the list. Off to do some reading if I can keep my eyes open any longer.

    1. Thanks Sharon, the garden isn't as intensively planted out as summers past, but what is growing is growing well :)
